When are follow up consults?
- The first follow-up consult typically occurs 1–2 weeks after the new patient consultation. This early visit is critical for ensuring you’re on track and allows for quick adjustments.
- After that, follow-up consults are generally scheduled once per month to monitor progress, update protocols, and advance through the phases of your functional medicine program.
Why Is the 1–2 Week Follow-Up Important?
Most course corrections and patient concerns arise within the first 1–2 weeks. This early follow-up allows us to:
- Ensure the diet is being followed correctly
- Adjust supplement dosages or formulations as needed
- Confirm lab instructions were followed properly
- Address clinical questions or unexpected symptoms
If this consult is missed, we often find patients arrive off course at their next monthly visit, requiring extra time and effort to get back on track. This can lead to loss of healing momentum and slower overall progress.
What Happens After the First Few Weeks?
- Lab results are typically ready for review 4–5 weeks after the new patient consult.
- At that point, Dr. J will create a personalized supplement program based on lab findings.
- Ongoing monthly follow-ups ensure the protocol is adjusted as your health improves and guide you through new program phases.
